Compatibility Notes for CD/DVD Recordable and Rewritable Products
There can be major incompatibilities that prevent even the highest quality CD/DVD recordable and rewritable products from working well with all drives and PC/Mac software configurations. Those miss-matches can result from many factors, including (1) differences CD media dye sensitivities to various drive laser frequencies, (2) software driver or application versions and capabilities, as well as (3) ambient conditions such as temperature or vibration, and (4) your drive's own mechanical and electronic changes during its usable lifetime. Even one-or-two-year-old "young" drives may develop problems writing to various media types, while they work fine with other media. Test a wide variety of media types, including different colors of dye and different reflective surfaces, made by different manufacturers. Not all "silver-blue" or "gold-gold" or "silver-silver" products have the same chemical composition or responsiveness to the particular laser voltage produced by your drive.
